Often our best efforts to solve internally held challenges and problems are coloured by our own biases.
Other times sometimes seeking help from friends and loved ones leave us more confused and sometimes isolated and ashamed. 
Working with a therapist allows for an impartial ear and a supportive hand.

MY COUNSELLING APPROACH

Hi, my name is Keith and it's a pleasure to meet you.

Firstly, I am an openly proud gay man of colour; however, whilst having a special focus on LGBTQIA+ clients [regardless of gender] I do not limit myself to just sexual minority clients. Although a child of immigrants I was raised in Australia from the age of two. This personal experience has spurred my interest in being able to work with clients of cultural and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

Whilst my approach is person-centred, my engagement is adjusted for what you need. I can comfortably provide a listening ear, support through warmth and empathy, or be a sturdy but fair therapist. I have had a broad scope of personal and professional life experience and no life situation is off limits. I do not censor client expression or thought and will meet you where you currently are. I focus on your therapeutic goals and will work towards helping you improve your emotional and mental well-being.

All new clients are offered an initial 15-min (free) consultation.

It's important to feel that your therapist is connected with you in the therapeutic space

Be prepared to do the work

​Change happens through a series of attempts which results in small to large success and misses. Like any skill you have mastered in your life this far, it took time, practise, adjusting, and learning.

Your therapist doesn't always get it right

Sometimes we get things wrong. This doesn't mean you can't tell us. When you have a strong therapeutic relationship with your therapist they can learn from you too.

Work with your therapist on goals and priorities

Big rocks versus small rocks. Figuring out what are key personal priorities whilst still fitting in lesser but still important priorities around these.
